Ancestors and the Family in 2010

This list falls into four parts. The first part consists of the names of people who lived

in Seavington St. Mary in the sixteenth century. I have no direct evidence of their relationship

to my family, but the size of the community at that time (there were only 27 households in the parish in 1563) makes it likely that they were part of my ancestral line.

The second part relates to the family of William Vile/Ville. There is a break in the records

between 1718 and 1760 such that I have as yet no direct evidence of a link between this family

and the Viles of Glastonbury, but the Glastonbury Viles came from Seavington St. Mary,.and the name Hugh Vile  runs through William's family and that of the Glastonbury Viles, but I have found no other Hugh Viles in the whole country at that time, not even amongst the Viles of neighboring parishes..

The third part, beginning with the marriage of Hugh Vile in Glastonbury in 1760

is based upon consecutive records running down to the present time.

The fourth part begins with the exodus from Somerset and follows the history through London to Kent and Minnesota.

his father is named as Hugh and his mother as Jane (Vile v Hutchins)
